Performance Notes
Amparito roca is a Spanish pasodoble first performed in 1925, and has been arranged for various ensembles since (here is an example). This version for six horns is limited in range and technical difficulty, and therefore easy to play. What makes it of medium difficulty is the transposition (the parts are in E flat), the key signature in the second part (A major in horn in E flat, three sharps), and even more the 6th horn in E flat and old bass clef notation. Apart from that it’s a fun piece to play and popular with audiences.
